Where are the adults, anyway?

We are all getting like the FDA.  Do big bans rather than narrow steps that permit the enjoyment or the benefit, while affording reasonable protections against abuse.  We hear that bans are going into effect as to playing tag, because some folks are nasties.  Ridiculous.  If kids need monitoring, then monitor.  The last thing we need is more couch potatoes.  If the environment isn't safe for play, make it safe.  That is what grown-ups do.

Would we or should we stop these kids from some rough and tumble because, if there just happen to be no sensible adults around or available for follow-up, somebody may enter the game and beat everybody up?

How did we get to this point, where adults relinquish responsibility and just back off.

How Groups respond to rambunctious recess.
Inappropriate but pushing the right buttons.
Call it bullying and who could possibly disagree?
Tag ban. Where overseeing makes more sense.
Adult cave-in on teaching social rules.
Respect, and tolerance, and grace win-lose.
Capitulate re normal games of kids.
Ignore that they may need some help at play.
Instead of taking time with contact games,
You ban, and lowly tag becomes "evil."
